December News

We tested for GRADE (reading) this week. Next week we will test with DIBELS (also reading). Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast and gets a good nights sleep.

Santa's Workshop starts on December 10th and last until December 18th. If your child brings money in they can shop.

PTO on December 14th at 5:30.

Our school Christmas program will be December 17th at 6:00.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Over the holidays, keep reading with your child. The little readers that we send home are for your child to read to you or brother/sister. Your child can read these and then write them on their Reading At Home sheet.

In Math, we are working on fractions. In Reading, we are working on questioning, text organization, and cause/effect.

We will be working on ordinal numbers in Math. In Reading we will work on monitorying/classifying and using describing words. We are studying Pilgrims, Native Americans and Thanksgiving in Social Studies.

Fall Festival

Fall Festival tonight! Starts at 5:00, please come!
Vote for Mooney's class pumpkin in the library tonight. We have Wilbur from Charlottes Web.

Our Field trip will be on Tuesday the 27th. We will be going to Nashville to see The Hungry Caterpillar. After the play we will eat at McDonalds.

Halloween party on Friday the 30th.

Munchkin News

PTO meeting on Monday, September 14th.

Fall Pictures Thursday, September 24th.

Fall Break starts Monday, September 28th.

We are working on patterns in Math. Today we used pattern blocks to create our own pattern, then we went on a gallery walk to showcase our pattern.

We are working on predicting in Reading. The students get to choose a book in Literacy Centers to predict what the story will be about.

In Social Studies we are working on Jobs. Our school nurse came in Thursday to discuss her job with the students.

Testing

We are beginning Reading Tests on August the 17th. Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast, and a good nights sleep.

Next week will test with GRADE and on the following week we will test with DIBELS.

Please make sure your child brings a backpack and folder daily.

We have snack every Monday-Thursday. Your child needs a snack and a drink on these days.

Thank you for a great beginning to the school year. If your child comes home with a stamp please praise your child. If they do not have a stamp please talk to your child about appropriate behavior.

New Year!

We are having a great beginning of the year!! Thank you parents for all your help. Students are getting use to all the routines and rules.

Please send your child a snack and snack drink every Monday-Thursday. If you would like you can send a large package of drinks and snacks to keep in their cubby.

Please send in all papers that needed to be signed or filled out.

Please send backpacks and folders every day. We have lots of papers to send home until the end of school.
We still have snack Monday - Thursday until the end of school.
No school on May 25th - Memorial Day.

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring. Happy Spring!

We have school on Monday, March 23rd. Spring Break starts Tuesday March 24th. We will return to school on April 6th.

We had a presentation today called "Living Abe Lincoln". The students learned about Abe Lincolns life.

We have an author visit on April 22nd. Pamela Duncan Edwards and Henry Cole will be here. If you would like to buy a book, please send Monday.

Field Trip

We will be going on a field trip on Thursday, February 26th. We will leave around 8:oo and be back by the end of school. We will go to the Capital Arts Center to see "The Hobbitt" and then McDonalds.

100 DAY!!!

Today was Muffins for Moms. Thank you to all the moms and grandmas for coming!

Tuesday will be our 100th day of school. We will celebrate with math acitivities most of the day. We will be counting objects brought from home, snacks, kisses, seconds, and much more!
Please be sure to send the 100 objects in the baggy by Tuesday. Thanks.

We have also been going to the computer lab on Fridays. The students are learning how to navigate through games on the internet and also how to use our new program Kidspiration.

Happy New Year!

Our new year is busy and fun! We watched a few minutes of the inauguration this morning.

We have been working on measurement and short i words. This week we are starting telling time.

The students are doing an excellent job at Literacy Centers and learning how to read.

We have Muffins for Mom on this Friday.
